@followers Our own Tony Dancer is back with his yearly fundraiser — his famous Ropa Vieja!
This beloved Cuban dish is shredded beef slow-cooked with garlic, onion, bell pepper, tomato, cumin, and spices until it's tender and full of flavor.
This year, for the first time, Tony is also offering a vegetarian version — the same rich, savory dish made with cabbage instead of beef.
Both come with rice and black beans.
Saturday, October 17th
Pickup: 4:30–5:30 PM at the Bath Area Food Bank, 807 Middle Street
Suggested donation: $20 per dinner — all proceeds go directly to the Food Bank.

I reached out to the president of Maine Health in Brunswick in regards to the loss of our lab in Bath and my clients are finding it difficult to get to Brunswick for their regular lab work, so many are just not going. He responded promptly with an email that was helpful, showed concern for my clients, and asked if I had any suggestions in regards to transportation. He also shared....THE BATH LAB will be returning to its old location in January!!! They have acquired more parking so that will really help. I LOVED Lois Skillings (former president) and the present president had huge shoes to fill. It is nice to see, he is filling them well.

That’s good news. I had been told that the Bath lab was gone for good. I most recently went to the outpatient facility in Topsham for a blood draw. I understand you can get it done at Parkview, too. Can you go to Midcoast Hospital for this? I don’t really know. I didn’t know Lois Skillings but I know people who did and it sounds like she was great! Glad there’s someone in her place that can adequately fill her shoes.
It’ll be nice to have it back!
I do believe there is a lab at Parkview and you can have blood draws there, but if my clients can't get to Brunswick they certainly can't get to the other side of Brunswick. This is good news. This is really good news.

Great news, though we have been very happy with the very efficient lab staff at Mid Coast.
Not sure why blood draw can't be done at Dr's office's. There must be a small cubby space they can set up for this. Not much space needed and does not take much time. So inconvenient and used to be done in dr office during appointment 🤨

For the people that are traveling for lab work, if it's more convenient to go in the other direction, Nordx has a lab in Wiscasset. They don't take walk-ins, but you can easily make an appointment online. Just another option until the Bath lab reopens.

We are getting ready to celebrate all of our volunteers...past and present. On October 15th from 3-5 we invite ALL our volunteers for a pizza party gathering at the Food Bank. Some of our board members will be coming as well as our director and staff. We are trying to hand out reminder slips to everyone, but we don't want to miss anyone...THANK YOU ALL for what you do for our food insecure families..WE COULD NOT do it without you!
